2021.12.04 22:06 JeffBenzos Stuck low pressure gauge on air acetylene regulator

Hi! As the title says the needle on the low pressure gauge is stuck at ~12 psi. High pressure seems to read fine.
It feels like the flow is okay, I’m not sure if I’m imagining it but it feels weaker or off somehow.
Should I replace the whole regulator or would it be okay to just replace the low pressure regulator? I’ve had it for about 5 years now. Thanks !

2021.12.04 22:06 cwd333 I will never forget how my boss offered me a $1,500 salary increase, refused to pay me more/ equal than a less experience man, and then bought a $2M house.

I work in funeral service for a family owned funeral home. We were short staffed before the pandemic hit and but when it was in full swing we were drowning. No, actually, we were fucked. We worked 12 hour days and we were still behind. We were truly burnt out and, to be honest, I still am, especially with the new rise in COVID deaths.
The 10 funeral directors (including myself) were now responsible for 2,000 death calls. This was an increase from 1,500 the year before. Unfortunately, this increase in business meant we were very profitable. Let’s say the average service we did was about $6,000. We made $12,000,000. Not all of this is pure profit, because we do have vendors and overhead, but we still made millions. We are on track to do a similar number of calls this year.
We got a one time $3,000 TAXED bonus in August of 2020 for our hard work, even though the pandemic was & is still going on and we are still working incredibly hard. We are all salary too, so no matter how hard we worked we did not get any pay increase. Then came the reviews. In 2021, I was offered $46,500, a $1,500 raise. Essentially this is a $.50/hr raise (or less) depending how much I work. I knew a male coworker who just started working at the funeral home and had less education & experience was making over $58,000 and was given free housing. I asked to be paid equal to him and they refused. He was only getting paid that because he negotiated that wage. (He moved from out of state and they helped relocate him too.) I was able to negotiate my raise to $50,000, which still isn’t fair.
I continued to work for this funeral home because I love what I do and my coworkers. I personally would feel like I am leaving them high and dry if I quit. But this last thing pushed me over the edge.
My boss just bought a $2M home. I’m struggling to pay my bills and living paycheck to paycheck and he can buy a $2M home????
I got in this business to serve others, not myself. And I know this post is a huge bitch fest about money, but how am I supposed to dedicate so much of myself to a job where I’m not compensated fairly for my work? Compensation = appreciation. My current employer is too worried about the money coming into his pocket that he has a complete disregard for all the hardworking employees that put the money there.
I am looking for new jobs and will hopefully find one where the owner respects and values their employees.
To clarify, I want it to be known that I believe the male coworker who is being paid more than me deserves his wage. I deserve to be paid as well as him. There are other funeral directors who have been there longer than both of us and don’t even get paid that much. I believe they deserve better as well. Also please don’t make the comments all about covid. It’s very real and it’s killing a lot of people.

2021.12.04 22:06 BloodySpaghetti Beyond Forgotten Dreamlands

I watch myself from afar Cold rays caress my body Sent from the decaying Corpse of a dying star
Endless light Senseless colors Penetrating Digging deep into a catatonic mind
What is enlightenment If not a journey through fields of suffering? What is enlightenment If not a ascend through oceans of terminal agony?
In the fields of eternity Where the darkness is disguised as light Of sublime monotone infinity I rest where Eden becomes A charmingly cruel wasteland Of beautiful pain

2021.12.04 22:06 beatNick_ Truth-Dictators

Truth-seekers with good intentions but bad motives.
Their good intentions discover the truth, to know things about reality with “certainty” despite their axioms being unproven, or as they argue “they’re obvious” which ignores the fact that we are subjective and bound to our perspective, so “it’s obvious” is irrational, even lazy. But this irrational beginning is practical, oddly enough, because infinite descent prevents anything from being full-proof because a thing is only proven if you used other proven things, which needed other proven things, which … So irrationality puts a stop to infinite descent and kicks off rationality! Rationally they build their theorems and test them in reality until they establish utility. This is a beautiful effect but by no means a defense of the axioms, because an action’s effect cannot be it’s cause, if it could this would be causa sui and “the causa sui is the best self-contradiction that has been conceived so far, it is a sort of rape and perversion of logic.” - Nietzsche.
Their bad motives take this “certainty” and pronounce reality as certainly understood, so you all MUST obey, and you must obey as long as you live, and if you dare not obey then you will perish and lose final respect for yourself, that would be your stupidity so you got what you deserved. They insist on neglecting others of their subjectivity, hot-wired by their “objectivity”, forgetting that we are subjective creatures by nature with enough objectivity to recognize our own subjectivity, we are a paradox. So tell me “what sort of science is that which enriches thee understanding but robs the imagination?” - Thoreau. Such a robbery is inhuman and it is well said “that the way to hell is paved with good intentions”, and this is because of bad motives. And so it seems “it may really be the case that such a will to truth, some extravagant and adventurous courage, a metaphysician’s ambition to hold a hopeless position, may participate and ultimately prefer even a handful of ‘certainty’ to a whole carload of beautiful possibilities.” - Nietzsche
“When people speak of good and bad motives, they nearly always mean good or bad intentions— that is, the action is done with a certain object, good or bad, in view. The motive is the deeply seated cause in the mind, the habitual condition of heart; the intention is the purpose in view. Thus an act may spring from an impure motive, yet be done with the best intention. It is possible for one to be involved in wrong motives, and yet at the same time to be so charged with good intentions as to be continually intruding himself on other people, and interfering in their business and their lives under the delusion that they ‘need his help.’ … In reality a wrong act cannot spring from a right motive, although it may be guided by a good intention.” - James Allen

2021.12.04 22:06 Block-Busted OT-ish: I have a good feeling about animated films of 2022. 😁

I mean, just having 3 animated films with a lot of potential is such a good omen, especially with Lightyear from Pixar, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse from Sony, and Searcher Clade from Disney.
Let's take a look at two of those, shall we? 😁

If those 3 gets very good reviews, I can picture them going head-to-head during the Oscar ceremony in 2023. 😁

2021.12.04 22:05 FloranSlinger54 the coming dynamic Cooldown changes for Supers, introduces massive potential for Super exotics going forward

Currently Most Super exotics, only increase/effect the supers Damage, duration, up time, or survivability. which isn't to say that they arnt great/powerful exotics, just kinda plain.
but with the dynamic cooldown system, bungie could use this to introduce super overhaul exotics, AKA exotics that drastically change how a super may work
A couple of Ideas along this vein that i thought of,

the reason why i brought this up with the Variable Cooldowns, is that if the exotic is more/less powerful then the normal super is, then it makes sense as a balancing tool for bungie to increase/decrease its cool downs, without needing to directly nerf the supers performance, (just uptime)
just something i had on my mind
